Fire Hydrant Vandalism (July 1, 2010)
There have been a number of reports of fire hydrants being opened around the community in the middle of the night by vandals. The opening of hydrants can reduce water pressure for critical services like fire fighting. The hydrants are typically being opened in the early morning hours. Unauthorized opening of a fire hydrant is a criminal offense. If you see an open fire hydrant that is not being serviced by a Severn Trent Services work crew or the Fire Department, you should call Severn Trent Services immediately at their 24 hour phone number, 281-830-3071. They will contact the Sheriff’s Department to report the incident and dispatch a crew to turn off the water.

Normally fire hydrants are flushed during working hours unless there is emergency maintenance.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING!

If you see anyone who does not look like they are with Severn Trent Services or the Fire Department contact the Sheriff non-emergency number at 713-221-6000 (select option1 for dispatch). For life threatening emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your vigilance.

Vehicles Vandalized (July 1, 2010)
There has been several acts of criminal mischief throughout Copperfield and the surrounding areas in the last several days. The criminal mischief is being committed on vehicles parked on the street in front of residences and a few in the driveways. The suspects are shooting out either the driver or passenger side window with an unknown object.

Most have occurred after 10pm. This is to advise everyone to communicate with their neighbors to always stay alert. Cars should always be locked, parked in the driveway if at all possible and valuables not visible.

If YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!

Please continue to call in any and all suspicious activity you observe at any time, to the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at 713.221.6000 (Option 1 for dispatch). For life threatening emergencies call 911.

Shopping Centers/Restaurants/Gas Stations Along Hihway 6 (June 14, 2010)
There has been an increased incidence of motor vehicle burglaries in the parking lots of various shopping centers along Highway 6. To protect yourself and your property, please:
 • Always lock your vehicle when leaving it. This includes even for a brief moment or while   pumping gas.
• Never leave a purse, wallet, electronics or valuables in the car, and certainly not visible. Purses have been stolen when the occupant is pumping gas.
 • If you see someone in a parking lot, randomly trying car door handles, or walking through rows of cars looking in the vehicle windows, report this suspicious activity to the Sheriff's office. 911 or (713) 221-6000. Try to note their physical description or any other identifying information such as attire or license plate numbers.

Tailgate Thefts (June 14, 2010)
A few years ago, Copperfield experienced an elevated occurrence of theft of truck tailgates. The sheriff's office caught those perpetrators and they were sent away to jail. However in the past month, there have been a few in the Copperfield Area and the Sheriff's office is on alert to avert this potentially developing trend. To protect your property please consider the following preventative measures:

• Lock your car and tailgate.
• Arm your vehicle's alarm whenever you park your car.
• Park your car in the drive way rather than on the street (there is a higher incidence of theft to vehicles parked in the street).
• Back the truck into your driveway so the tailgate is facing your garage.
• Insure that lighting is adequate.
• Reporting any suspicious individuals or trucks to the Sheriff's office. Call 911 or
 (713) 221-6000

Please continue to call in any suspicious activity you observe at any time to the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at 713-221-6000 (Option 1 for dispatch).
For life threatening emergencies call 911.

Sliver Ford F150 Alert (April 15, 2010)
Be on the lookout a silver Ford F150 pickup truck in your neighborhood. Recent burglaries in the Copperfield area are the coordinated work of an individual in the pickup truck and one or two teenage girls walking up and down neighborhood streets. The girls approach homes to determine if anyone is home. They also look for unlocked gates for entrance into a backyard. They are in constant contact with the individual in the pickup truck. If tou see these individuals, immediately call 911 and report their activity. Any suspicious individuals or activities should be reported to the Sheriff's Department at 713-221-600.

Painters and Repairmen Alert (April 15, 2010)
Individuals disguised as painters or repairmen have been seen in the Copperfield area attempting to break into homes. A Copperfield resident surprised individuals dressed as painters as they were rearranging items on the back patio. It is believed they were going to attempt entry in the home. If you are not sure about workers in your area, attempt to contact the homeowner to verify their activity. If unsure, call the Sheriff's Department at 713-221-600.

Wheaststone Parks and Pools Hours Enforcement
The Wheatstone Viilage pools and parks are open between the hours of  9:00AM and 10:00PM daily. The Sheriff Department is strictly enforcing these hours. Anyone in the parks or pools outside of these times is considered trespassing and will be prosecuted. Be sure all your family members are aware of these times and our enforcement policy.

What is the Copperfield Security Committee?
The Copperfield Security Committee is a group of residents from the Copperfield Community Association (CCA) and the Wheatstone Village Homeowners Association (WVHOA) who act as a liaison between the CCA and the WVHOA and our security patrol contractor, the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

The purpose of the Committee is to promote security and crime awareness, monitor the Contract Law Enforcement Agencies' performance and to maintain a neighborhood Crime Watch program. We are concerned with matters of security in Copperfield and Wheatstone Village and welcome new members at any time.

Any Wheatstone Village resident living in the Coppercreek I, Coppercreek II, Cloverfield or Copperstone sub-divisions can be a member of the Crime Watch Committee. By attending three consecutive meetings you are eligible to be seated as a voting member.
